CAUSES OF FOUNDATION FAILURE

Drainage
Water that is not drained away from structure due to a negative grade, downspouts and gutters.

Plumbing
Leaking plumbing, in some cases, is a major source of water to foundation problems.

Poor Soil Conditions
Clay and expansive soils that shrinks in dry conditions and swells under wet conditions causing excessive pressure on your foundation.

SIGNS OF A BOWED WALL

Block Foundation
  • Horizontal crack midway up wall along entire wall
  • Misalignes blocks
  • Stair step cracks in corner of wall on each side of bowed wall
  • Plumbing pipes pulling away from wall
  • Inward bowing of foundation wall

Poured Concrete Wall
  • Diagonal cracks typically starting three (3) feet from each corner from top to bottom of wall
  • Outside brick veneer overhang more severe towards mid length of wall

A COMMON MYTH…

Installing a waterproofing system or diverting water away from structure will stop a bowed wall from moving in.

This is not true. Once a wall has been pushed in and cracked the structural integrity has been compromised. Therefore at this point steel supports are necessary to stop any future movement.

The Inforcer™ is pre-engineered, effective and a permanent solution to providing your foundation with structural integrity. The new vertical steel beams straighten the foundation wall and provide the necessary support to resist the inward pressure applied by the soil. The beams tranfer the pressure from the foundation wall to the floor joist, basement slab and footing. The Inforcer™ is economical and an added value to your home.
